Services

Quality Over Quantity

For years we’ve worked with interior designers to create custom, one of a kind drapery, bedding, wall upholstery, and other furnishings. Our process is simple; call to schedule a quote and we come out to measure on site with samples. You will receive a quote the following day.

As a small mom and pop shop, we only take a limited number of jobs at a time, so the attention is all yours when you work with us. We are dedicated and accommodating to a personal experience for our customers. Please see our testimonials; we are very proud of them.

About us

Generations of Craftsmanship

Since our beginnings in the 1970s under the name DTST, the company has been in the hands of multiple generations of Escalante’s. Our grandmother, Tilcia, who immigrated from Colombia for a better and safer life for her and her children. As a female judge in a developing political economy, her life was frequently threatened. She did what any strong, independent woman would do for her family; left the life she knew for a new one in the United States. She took her small savings and passion for sewing, found like-minded women in need, a caring and seasoned NYC designer, and began to build a company from scratch. As her company grew she brought her daughters, her sisters, and their daughters. Tilcia is now happily retired, but the company lives on in her daughter's and granddaughter's hands.

The Next Generations

Claudia is Tilcia's youngest daughter. They worked together for 30 years, learning and improving and eventually, took the reigns of the company and reinvented it as “Escalante Furnishings”. Claudia is an expert seamstress with a specialty in hand sewing the most delicate and difficult materials to work with. Victor, her husband, started as an apprentice to a french upholsterer. He is one of few in the country who upholster walls with fine fabrics.

Claudia's youngest daughter, Julianna, graduated from Rutgers University with business and policy degrees. She supports the family business with best practices in labor and marketing.

Claudia's eldest daughter, Dayana, graduated from NJIT with architecture and engineering degrees. She supports the family business with drawing renderings and custom measured installations.

Under this next generation’s leadership the company has evolved once again to “Escalar Interiors”.
